Five-minute guide
Should I measure before I buy?
Usually, yes when the complaint changes by time of day, weather, room, or HVAC cycle.
Track a pattern
Place the monitor away from supply registers, exterior doors, direct sunlight, and kitchens or bathrooms unless that location is the specific concern. Review at least several days rather than reacting to one number.
Write down context
Note outdoor weather, showering, cooking, windows opening, fan runtime, and when discomfort occurs. The pattern is often more useful than a single “air-quality score.”
Act on causes
Measurements can point toward ventilation, moisture control, filtration, or a need for professional evaluation. A monitor is a decision aid, not a treatment.
